Chesterfield had their 4th Better Buses campaign public meeting on 7th March at 4.15pm on the issue of franchising. Unite printed 500 leaflets to publicise the meeting.
50 people came to the very successful meeting. Attendees included Toby Perkins, Labour MP and 2 Derbyshire county councillors, Derbyshire managing director, Alf Crouch, and the Yorkshire managing director, Matt Kitchen, of Stagecoach buses and the managing director of Hulleys buses, Alf Cross. The Derbyshire Times was also there.
Alf Crouch from Stagecoach is going to go with the campaigners to survey bus users at bus stops in Beetwell St with a view to reviewing bus services locally. He says that they need 100 responses as a representative sample.
